3 TIPID BIRTHDAY PARTY TIPS

OMG! 5 months to go and Dirk will turn 3! Last year, I also started to plan as early as possible.  Planning is really important especially if it involves COST (learned this term in an accounting perspective hihihi), we make sure that the money we a lot for this will really be SULIT. Here is the link of my blog when we had Dirk’s 2nd birthday celebration last March: http://diosyl.blogspot.com/2014/02/getting-ready-dirk-ludwig-2.html

So here are some of my TIPID tips for planning a birthday party:

FREE VENUE

There are some restaurants that offers FREE venue for your celebration, examples of which are Shakey’s, Jollibee, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Max’s Restaurant & Sunburst. I guess many of you were able to try these venues BUT if you really want a TIPID one, your HOME will be the best venue especially if you have an area that will your visitors and your host, magician or puppeteer.

KEEP IT SIMPLE AND DO IT YOURSELF

I was hands-on the decorations for Dirk’s 2nd party, thank you PINTEREST for lots of ideas and very easy-to-do cut-outs. Always remember that your decorations must match on the theme you are planning for your birthday to prevent over buying of stuffs.

INVEST ON GOOD ENTERTAINMENT

What’s the use of e very nice decoration and good venue IF your visitors are not entertained? Most of you will probably agree with me that the success of the party depends on the party host. If your party host is too boring or too loud, it could make or break your event.

We must consider the entertainment we want to have in our party, if you want a, puppet show, magician or a Ventriloquist. Here in the Philippines, I highly recommend KUYA MAU. I was able to write about him on my previous blog and I am very much thankful because some mommies were able to witness his performance. Those smiles on our kids face are priceless.

Long time no blog: Dirk at 2 years and 7 months

Hi to all mommies and daddies out there! I think some of you also have toddlers same age with my little boy. So, how are they doing? For our little man, he is enjoying his #terribletwo stage. He is currently at 27 kilos and 41 inches in height.

He loves to run back and forth in a big ground, mingling with other kids regardless if those kids knew him or not, loves to dance in his favorite songs and finally can utter words like numbers and letters. I am aware that some of my friends are concerned because Dirk can’t really talk straight sentences at his age right now, but still I don’t want to pressure my son.

Had his new haircut a week ago

Despite of my very busy schedule at work, we (his dad, my mom and sister) are trying our best to provide a strong support system for him. We encourage him to sing even though he has his own lyrics, we read books with him and let him discover things on his own and sometimes with other kids. I let him play and enjoy as much as he wants but with my supervision.

I am hoping that all of us are able to provide support system that our kids needs. Have a great day to all!

KUYA MAU : Perfect for Celebrations (Magician Philippines)

It’s been a very long time since I posted my last blog, about 4 months ago.  I have a lot to blog about that I wanted to post but unfortunately I have been really very busy at work and at home.

As a parent, we just want the best for our kids, not only providing their needs but also giving them their wants. When we had Dirk's 2nd birthday celebration last year, I was able to request a clown as his party host because i find magician expensive. I was able to search this Magician and I guess most parents will like this.

I think some of you knew him. His name KUYA MAU (Maurice Supetran), Mau is a host magician in the Philippines who offers puppet show packages in a very reasonable price. He is currently residing in Marikina, Manila (too bad ang layo nang Cebu) and for those parents who are planning for the birthday celebration of their kids, you can also check KUYA MAU’s puppet show packages.

Dirk’s 1st Manila Trip 2014

After 9 months from the date that I booked the flight, Dirk had his 1st airplane ride & Manila trip. At first, I was anxious that he might not be comfortable riding in a plane, thank goodness our little boy was behave, the educational videos that I downloaded on his tablet was really a big help. We arrived last May 22 and stayed in one of our family friend in Pasay.

At his young age, Dirk really had fun during our pasyal moments but more on his tantrum moments maybe because it’s very humid outside and the traffic was heavy. On our first day, we went to Mall of Asia, Dirk was so full on his heavy lunch at KFC, and he loves their mushroom soup. We stroll and bought stuffs for Dirk, Tita Itin, Lala Vangie and of course, for me. We stroll whole afternoon. Dirk was enjoying running and playing inside the mall. What we like was the mall was very child friendly. We had dinner at Congo Grille, good customer service.

Our second day was a bit stressful because we went to Baclaran & Divisoria. We visit Baclaran Church around lunch time (so init), Dirk keeps on crying because he was uncomfortable. I was carrying him the whole time. After Baclaran, we then proceed to Divisoria, about 1 hour travel via jeepney. We had a late lunch at Pizza Hut Tutuban, Dirk enjoys seeing the staff wearing XMEN costumes. After lunch, we stroll around Divisoria and bought stuffs and pasalubong. Dirk was so happy with his new toys. A very exhausting day but we were able to go to Resorts World during night time and had dinner at Mcdo.

Our last day, we had a great dine at Gerry’s Grill and back to Baclaran to have a last minute shopping. Thank you Manila for our 3 days vacation and hoping to be back next year because our Little Dirk will be going to Ocean Park & Enchanted Kingdom.

Review : Getting the BEST out of online shopping + iPrice Philippines

I am claiming that I am a fan of online shopping.  I was able to post before about my shopping experience in Lazada. To read more about my Lazada experience, please CLICK HERE. I was also given a chance to post this informative article about Lazada (online shopping) that will really help all mommies and daddies who wants to try online shopping.

You will also know about iPrice Philippines, they provide online coupons codes for web-stores such as Lazada and more. These coupon codes help online shoppers get additional discounts on their purchases. Enjoy reading and hope you can share this article to your family & friends.

Lazada Philippines Shopping
Before you even start contemplating the idea of online shopping, you must be able to create an account. In the case of Lazada Philippines, you can shop for any products that you wish for. After you have made sufficient research on the specific product you are looking for (reviews), you can make the payment at the checkout page. At Lazada Philippines, they really want to facilitate the whole process of paying for purchases. You have the choice between; debit card, PayPal, credit card, cheques and a great cash on delivery option. In terms of delivery time, Lazada Philippines is a very prompt organisation. It usually takes about five business days to deliver to Metro Manila and between five to 10 days business days to deliver in provinces of Philippines.

Pro’s:
●     Cash on delivery accepted
●     30 days return policy
●     Free Shipping nationwide
●     Order Tracking
●     Good customer service

True to their word, many customers have reviewed that Lazada is usually early on their estimated delivery times, and that’s one of the many features that make Lazada Philippines a great shopping website. It offers a great customer service even during busy holiday periods. Lazada Philippines also offers a nifty feature to all customers - customer tracking. Anybody who makes a purchase on Lazada Philippines can instantly track their order from the moment they purchase their product to the moment when they receive it.

Not only that, Lazada allows its customers to track their orders. They have an order tracking section there when you open your account and go to your My Orders page.

Review
“In general, I think I had a pleasant shopping experience at Lazada. Easy to navigate site, well-organized shopping categories, different brands to choose from, vast number of items for sale, etc. I believe I’m an easy to please online shopper/customer. As long as the items I bought are delivered on or ahead of time, I’m good. As long as they keep me updated on the status of my order, I’m okay. Smooth online transaction and fast delivery. You have a happy customer.”

The shopping alternative
In terms of being able to provide a wide variety of products for a discounted or reasonable price, there are not many online shopping stores that can rival Zalora Philippines. In terms of products variety, you really can’t get much ‘value for money’. Zalora is a huge South-East Asian fashion online store present in; Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. While their area of expertise is in fashion, Zalora Philippines also offers; backpacks, necklaces, bracelets, running shoes and sporting equipment. Zalora Philippines is a very user-friendly website and also offers an array of payment methods which includes; cash on delivery, debit card and PayPal. They often have discount days so make sure to regularly check the website.

iPrice Philippines
Iprice philippines is a great website that can help you when you are shopping online. iPrice Philippines helps you is basically a free online couponing website that enables you to get free discounts when you shop online. I know what you are thinking; it’s just one of these annoying websites that’s trying to waste your time. I’m not surprised - after all, there are thousands of unreliable or simply fake websites that present themselves as free couponing websites. Fear not, iPrice Philippines is trusted and reliable. You can check the reviews of iPrice on google and see for yourself. Try it out, you will save yourself a few beers! CLICK HERE!

Thank you LAGUNDEX : Dirk's Asthma Attack

Last Monday, April 14, 2014, I rushed our Dirk at the nearest Hospital because of his asthma. I was really wondering why he had an asthma attack. I was very careful in everything he does and also particular in what he eats. After I talked to the Doctor, Dirk was diagnosed to have a “Bronchial Asthma”. The doctor said that not all kids have same symptoms when having asthma & some allergies can cause asthma. I would like to share this information to all of you so that we will be more watchful to our kids.

At the Emergency Room (Chong Hua Hospital)
Bronchial asthma (commonly known as asthma) is characterized by constant coughing, panting & shortness of breath.  Dirk had experienced all this symptoms that is why I immediately rushed him to the ER.

Last April 16, 2014, I received a surprise package from Lagundex.

The package from Lagundex
The medicine was a blessing. Many medicines were prescribed by Pedia (Pred 10, Allerkid, Ventolin & Salbutamol Nebules), Dirk was able to take the antibiotics and was nebulize until Wednesday. We already had a planned visit to our province during the holy week. Because of this, I opted to use the Lagundex because I find the nebulizer very bulky. My son was able to start taking the Lagundex last Wednesday night until Sunday and the result was great, Dirk got well and his dry cough and asthma started to stop. Now, Dirk is well and no need to nebulize him.

I used the Sweet Orange Flavor for Dirk and the taste is ok for him. At first he keeps on staring the syrup because it was color black but after I tasted it, he smiled.

Lagundex at our Province
For more info about the wonders of Lagundex, Please click here.

I was also given the privilege to give 2 packs of Lagundex and I chose 2 of my friends here in Cebu City that will really benefit the medicines.

Giftpacks from Lagundex
First, is my dear friend Felomina Rodriguez, She was my officemate before in my first company and she has asthma. I was able to witness her struggle every time she has an asthma attack while working. Second, is my friend, Army Biatingco, she is the caregiver of our owner in my current company and her mom needs medicine for her cough. Do hope they will also experience the great effect of Lagundex like Dirk had experienced.

Sleeping Comfortably

To all my friends and readers, I highly recommend Lagundex for Kids & Adults.

Summer is NO holiday for cough and colds - Lagundex

Finally, it’s summer! I think all of us are waiting for this, right? time to carry out that vacation you’ve been planning for the whole family. But before you go ahead with your travel preparations, there are more important things you have to consider and be aware about.

During summer, the weather may become changeable — from an extremely hot day to sudden downpours. These unexpected weather changes cause cough and cold viruses spread easily, giving you flu-like symptoms similar to what you experience during rainy season. Unfortunately, I and my son had been a victim of this weather changes. Really a bad experience for us but we are both thankful because we are both well now.

Like what happened to us, do not let your family’s summer outing be interrupted with cough and colds. Keep your family safe by reminding them to wash their hands frequently, eat a balanced diet, get plenty of sleep, stay well-hydrated, exercise regularly and avoid contact with sick people.

If someone from your family catches summer cough and colds, here are safe, natural and equally effective ways to cure it:

Take plenty of fluids. Aside from the summer heat, cough and colds bring dehydration. Drinking water is important to keep fluids and flush toxins from the body. This also maintains the body’s electrolyte balance. One good source of hydration and electrolytes is chicken soup. Though it may sound weird to take something hot during summer, chicken soup helps reduce inflammation and make mucus thinner.

Rest and relax. When you notice that you’re feeling sick, do not ignore it and go on with your normal, daily routine. Slow down and rest so it won’t get worse. But if you can’t take the day off, at least try to go to bed earlier than usual.

Hot showers. Taking hot baths can be the worst possible feeling, especially when it’s really hot outside. But its steam works like a natural decongestant which relieves cold symptoms. It lessens sinus pressure, moisturizes nasal passages and soothes itchy throat. It even makes the body feel relaxed.

Avoid caffeine, salty, spicy food and refined sugars. Caffeine, usually found in coffee, tea and chocolate, is a psychoactive stimulant drug which dehydrates the body. As being hydrated is important to treat cough and colds, caffeine should be avoided. Also, excessive intake of salty, spicy food and refined sugars speed up the body’s system, causing dehydration as well.

Take Lagundi leaf (Vitex negundo L.) cough syrup. Combat cough and colds with Lagundi leaf (Vitex negundo L.), a herbal product extensively studied and trusted by the Department of Health. Developed by a group of Filipino scientists, it only uses indigenous lagundi plants, making it truly and proudly a Filipino product.

Lagundex, a brand of Lagundi leaf, is guaranteed safe as it strictly complies with the manufacturing requirements of the Philippine Food and Drug Administration. It is manufactured under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) with certified facilities to ensure its quality and efficacy.

Lagundex 300 mg/5 mL syrup comes in sweet orange and peppermint flavors suited for kids, while the Lagundex Forte 600 mg/5 mL syrup in soothing mint flavor and Lagundex 600 mg tablet are ideal for adults. These are available in leading drugstores.

Lagundex is distributed by New Marketlink Pharmaceutical Corporation (NMPC). For more information, ask your doctor about Lagundex or call NMPC hotlines at (02) 836-5838 to 47. Visit facebook.com/Natural-na-magaling-sa-ubo.

Oh Hello Summer!

It’s been a long time that I have posted my last blog, after the 2nd birthday celebration of our little boy; I had a lot of errands that needs to be attend to, not only at home but at work. March has been a very busy month for me and despite of that, I am very thankful that I was able to handle it. Our little boy who just turned 2 had grown up so fast; loves to be more independent and very active in playing.

To start the summer, our boss sponsored a beach outing for us, not only for us employees, but we were privileged to bring our families with us. We had our beach outing at Costabella Tropical Resort Lapu-lapu Cebu City. The place was really nice & cozy and the kids really had a great time. The pool and beach line is safe for kids because their life guards are very attentive, the food is great & the amenities are excellent.

How about you? did you started your summer already? how did you start your summer?

Captain Dirk Ludwig @ 2

Words can’t express how much we are blessed to have Dirk in our lives.  Not only he brought happiness to us, he also changes our lives for the better. I have been preparing his 2nd birthday since last quarter of 2013 and was so glad that many were able to share their time to attend his 2nd birthday celebration.

Special thanks to his dad who was also hands-on in preparing for his birthday,  to his Lola Vangie that was very supportive to both of us ( she surprised us with the clown host) , to his titos, titas, ninongs, ninang & kids who partied with us and also to Ms. Jen of Wooden Kiddie Stools for the Wooden Kiddie Baskets.

Getting Ready: Dirk Ludwig @ 2

I have been preparing for my little boys’ 2nd birthday since November 2013 (excited masyado). The 1st blessing we have received for his birthday was the 30 wooden baskets we won via Bebengisms and Wooden Kiddie Stools. When Dirk had his 1st birthday celebration, he had a “Mickey Mouse” theme party. Now that he will be turning 2, we have a “Jake and the Neverland Pirates” theme party for him.

Venue: Already booked the venue for his big on March 5, 2014. I decided to hold it at Hanna’s Party Place because it is very accessible and the place is safe and clean.

Food: Gladly, I was able to found a very affordable catering service. The Le Nouvelle offers a very friendly budget menu. I am so happy because they will be giving a FREE 2nd dessert.

Cake and sweets: I already have the cake & cupcake design ready. Will have it book on the last week of this month.

Giveaways: As per Ms. Jen of Wooden Kiddie Tools, the baskets will arrive 3rd week of this month. I am also starting to buy goodies w/c will be put inside the wooden baskets.

The birthday boy: Dirk turned 1 year and 11 months last Tuesday. We also had his pre-birthday photo shoot last Feb 2, 2014 at The Picture Company. We are looking forward to have his printed copy on February 20, 2014.

♥ Few weeks to go and our little man will be turning 2. We are very thankful that God blessed us with this litlle boy who is our sunshine. ♥

The Story behind the name DIRK LUDWIG

Before I gave birth to my little boy last 2012, I was really having a hard time looking and searching for a perfect name for him. Like any other mom or dad, we want to have that ideal name for our precious one. It took us more than 5 months to finalize the name of our little boy. After all the research we had, we finally decide to name him DIRK LUDWIG.

Why Dirk? Why Ludwig? So here how it goes.

Dirk came from the famous Dallas Mavericks Player (Dirk Nowitzki). Not only my son’s father is an avid basketball fan, he himself is basketball player. He was a varsity player from one known Universities here in Cebu City. Last 2011 (I got pregnant July 2011), Dallas Mavericks was the 2011 NBA Finals Champion and Dirk Nowitzki was awarded as the MVP (Most Valuable Player).

Not only we want to name our son from 1 of the famous Sport Icon, Dirk also has a very meaningful meaning. The name Dirk means 'The ruler of the people.' It is of Germanic and Dutch origin. It is mostly used in Dutch and English. (Source: www.ask.com).  I want my son to set a good example to others.

Ludwig came from the famous musician (composer & pianist), Ludwig van Beethoven. I am a music lover that is why I chose this as the 2nd name of our little man.

How about you mommies and daddies? What is the story behind the names of your babies?
