Dirk & Pororo the Little Penguin

Since Dirk was 6 months old, he is a fan of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Show and until now that he is a toddler; still his love for Mickey Mouse never fades. 1 week ago, Dirk was able to see a new cartoon show; I was just amazed because Dirk really had a loud laugh while watching that show. Suddenly, the show ended and Dirk started to cry, what I did, I immediately turned his attention to other things just to let him stop crying. I myself was not familiar of what Dirk had watched, good thing my sister was watching over Dirk and told me that the show was PORORO.

I immediately downloaded videos of PORORO (using the Videoder Android App). Our little boy was so happy to see his new found PORORO show on his tablet. It’s been a week now and Dirk is really enjoying PORORO, I have observed that he enjoys the singing and the dancing episodes of the characters plus the show is really educational. I was able to download the English version because PORORO is a Korean kiddy show.

So here are PORORO the little penguin and his friends, hope your kids would like and love it too.

My 2014 Goals as a Mom

We always want the best for our kids, right? This 2014 here are my goals as a mom and I am really praying that I can able to achieve all of these.

In 2014, I am planning to avail a Medical Insurance for my little kid, I was able to identify already the medical insurance company (MaxiCare) and my target for is by 1st quarter of the year 2014. I find it more practical if I avail Medical Insurance, is badly needed especially if you have a baby. Medical check-up is very costly and most especially when our kids got sick. Hospital rooms plus medicines are getting very expensive these days.

My 2nd goal is to increase my savings for at least 20%, currently I am able to allocate my budget and hopefully I can save more not only for myself but most importantly for the future of my son. Honestly, I was really having a hard time saving this 2013 because of unexpected payments like last June when my son got admitted to the hospital for a week. I am very much positive that I can save more this 2014.

My Last but not the least goal is to send my toddler to school by June 2014, by that time, Dirk is already 2 years and 3 months old, I already inquire a school near the office I am working with and by June of 2014, hopefully, our Dirk can go to school. Hoping to be a fruitful 2014 for all of us, cheers!

FREE Scrapbook Quotes for Babies

I am really fond of scrapbooking. I admit I am not that artistic but I always try my best to make my scrapbook look good. I love to cut-out cute pictures that will fit the theme of my scrapbook but sometimes,I also buy some scrapbooking materials. Aside from the materials that I used, I also love to put baby quotes on my scrapbook. Recently, I was able to make one for my little man.

♥♥♥

I want to share to you some of the quotes I used for my little man’s scrapbook. I just printed these quotes in nice special paper. Do hope you enjoy these quotes and happy scrapbooking!
***

" Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart. "

" From small beginnings come great things. "

" When you're drawing up your first list of life's miracles, you might place near the top the first moment your baby smiles at you. "

" Babies are such a nice way to start people. "

" My precious little baby, I have loved you from the start, you are a tiny miracle, laying closely to my heart. "

" God sends us many precious gifts,
But there is none that can compare
With the wonder of our baby
Who is the answer to our prayer. "

" A baby will make love stronger, days longer, nights shorter, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for. "

" When babies look beyond you and giggle, maybe they're seeing angels. "

" A baby is God's opinion that the world should go on. "

" Every child born into the world is a new thought of God, an ever-fresh and radiant possibility. "

" Before you were conceived, I wanted you
Before you were born, I loved you
Before you were here for an hour, I would have died for you
This is the miracle of life. "

Early Christmas Gift for My Kiddo

Few more days to go and it’s Christmas! All malls are having huge sales and discounts and because if this, my being an impulsive buyer has been activated.

While strolling in the mall with my mom and Dirk, I really cannot control myself to always check the Kids Section. I was really looking for a pair of sandals to replace his Nike Rubber Sandals; I check different brands and finally decide to buy these 2 cute shoes and sandals. Not only I love the appearance but most of all; I trust the quality of these shoes.

Since Dirk really loves to run, I opt for this sandal that really fits him. I also had close shoes for him for his formal get-up. Dirk has been a good boy this year and he deserve these gifts

I just love my son sooo much ♥

Oh Hello December!

Streets are filled with Christmas decors and lights, neighbors are starting to play Christmas carols and we are just so excited for Christmas!

Time flies so fast and once again it’s December. It’s the 2nd year that Dirk will celebrate Christmas. As to welcome December, I bought Dirk his Little Red Parol. Parol is a Star shape Christmas Lantern that is very famous in our country.
Our little man was so delighted with his little Parol ☺

Since it is already December, we are starting our count down for our Dirk’s Bigday! 3 months more to go and this kid will turn 2.

WIN a Gift for Someone you LOVE

If your given a bag full of beautiful products form Sample Room, who do you want to give it to, and why?

My answer is: To my Mom

I guess many of us would really try our best to show how much we appreciate our mom. Since my mom and dad separated, she is our Mapa (Mama and Papa); she never failed to make us feel complete. Raising us (2 girls and 1 boy) was really tough for her, not only she was able to give us all our needs but most especially, she was able to balance her time for us equally.

When I became a mom like her, the more I appreciate the effort my mom sacrificed for us. What I learned from my mom is the most priceless gift I am able to teach my kid. She is always their not only for me but also for my son. Since I need to work for me to provide for our needs, my mom became the YayaLa (Yaya & Lola in one) of my little boy. I am sometimes worried because my mom sometimes forgets to pamper herself because she is very hands on in taking care of my little boy.

Mama, Thank you for everything...We Love you so much ♥♥♥

If given a chance to give her a gift this Christmas, the products from Sample Room will really be a perfect one.

To all my friends and readers, you might also win a gift for someone you love!

Thank You Babypalooza Bazaar, Michikoshoppes & SuburbaNANAY

Since I became a mom, I am very much interested with baby bazaar, not because I am in impulsive buyer (sometimes I am guilty ) but because I enjoy seeing such cute baby items and also products for mommies and soon to be moms.

Here in the Philippines, one of the most famous baby bazaars is the Babypalooza Bazaar.

“The Babypalooza Bazaar aims to provide a safe and comfortable venue for start-up entrepreneurs to offer and promote their business to parents and friends.
Aside from brand new products for babies and toddlers, our event also welcomes sellers of gently used items and gear.” (Info source : http://www.babypalooza.com.ph/)

This year, the Babypalooza team will have their 4th Babypalooza Bazaar this Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Walter Hogan Conference Center, Ateneo de Manila University Quezon City from 9AM until 7PM.
Unfortunately; I cannot attend this bazaar because I am here in Cebu City. Really do hope they will have their next event here in our place.

In line with this big event, they had a GIVEAWAY via their Facebook page, one lucky contestant will win 1 locally made tote from Michikoshoppes and 1 jar of Mommy Patch Anti-Mosquito Rescue Gel from SuburbaNANAY.

And the winner is ♥

A blessing ♥

Viral Infection: For ALL Parents Please Be AWARE

Dirk had a high fever last Friday, November 15, 2013. As a first aid, I gave him Dolan (Ibufropen based medicine) because that is the only medicine he can take (my little boy is allergic to paracetamol). I was bothered because the fever lasted for 2 days.

I bought him to his Pedia yesterday because he lost his appetite due to his fever. I bought medicines prescribed by his pedia and immediately gave it to him. Last night, I was freaked out because rashes suddenly appeared all over his body. I suddenly rushed him this morning to his pedia. As per his pedia, Dirk had a viral infection that was rampant since last week (he had 6 patients same with the condition of Dirk) ; it is like Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease where in babies will first have fever, loss of appetite then rashes will come out after the fever is gone. I am glad because the rashes will be gone after 5 days.

To all parents, let us ensure that our babies are safe. Immediately consult your pedia if your babies have these symptoms. Please also pray for my little boy to recover immediately.
Thank you ♥

Being an Environmental Friendly Mama: Homemade Baby Wipes

I think most of you would agree that buying the needs and wants of our babies is really very costly. For me, as much as possible, I am finding ways to at least able to save my budget from buying diapers and baby wipes (I fine these 2 neccesities very expensive). Currently, I am using cloth diapers for Dirk but not most of the time because i only have 2 pcs of it. Not only I was able to save my money, but as well, I am able to contribute a good impact on the environment because I was able to lessen the waste in our environment.

Speaking about ways in saving money, I got this homemade baby wipes recipe  from an auction in Listia. Listia is an online auction site where in you do not need money or cash in order to have items that you want, but instead, you only need to use credits. Need not to worry beacuse the sign-up is for free.

So for those parents who love to make products for their babies and would like to save a lot of money just to buy baby wipes, hope you will find this recipe very helpful.

You need to prepare:
• Round plastic container (Rubbermaid #6 or #9 works well)
• Thick, strong roll of white paper towels
• Sharp knife to cut paper towel roll in half
• 2 cups water that has been boiled and cooled to room temperature
• 2 Tablespoons baby shampoo or baby wash
• 1 Tablespoon baby oil

♥ Here are the Simple Steps:
• Open container and 'start' the roll by pulling a towel from the inside of the roll.
• Cut the roll of paper towels in half with a knife and remove the inner cardboard core.
• Mix liquid ingredients in container.
• Place the paper towels in the container with the cut side facing downward.
• Secure lid tightly and allow to sit until all liquid is absorbed into the paper towels.
• Turn the container upside-down and allow to sit for 10 minutes.
• Open container and 'start' the roll by pulling a towel from the inside of the roll.
• Wipes are now ready to use.

♥ Some Helpful Tips:

♦ These also make a great gift for new parents. You can decorate or personalize the container and, of course, be sure to include a copy of the recipe.
♦ Save the other half of the roll for use next time you make wipes.
♦ Make sure the container is closed tightly after each use to prevent drying out.
♦ When your baby is older and his skin is less sensitive, you can add about a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol to the mix.

Most importantly, we need to maintain proper storage to ensure the hygiene & safety of the wipes that we will use for our kids.

A Prayer for my Brothers & Sisters *Typhoon Yolanda*

Our Father in heaven, we humbly pray to You as a nation. We plead to Your merciful heart that You may look upon them with compassion.
We pray for our brothers who have lost their lives. Receive them in Your Heavenly kingdom.
We pray for those who are lost and those trying to get home to their families. Make their way easy. We pray for those who have lost their homes. Give them comfort.
We pray for those who are still exposed to the bad conditions and awaiting help.
Give them strength. Everything we do for our unfortunate brethren, we offer to You and Your glory.
All this we pray in the most holy Name of Jesus, Amen.

I am a PROUD FILIPINO *Typhoon YOLANDA*

Last November 8, 2013, Super typhoon YOLANDA badly hit some of our areas here in the Visayas. As much as I wanted to blog about it, I really find it very hard to explain the pain and sufferings of my brothers and sisters that are affected of the calamity. The Filipino Spirit is very strong that no typhoon can break us. Together, we will survive.

To those who have helped us, a BIG THANK YOU to all of you.

Happy ME

The word “Happiness” or “Happy” has a lot on meaning for different people. What makes you happy may not apply to others or vice versa. The happiness of others may not be the same as yours. For me, happiness or being happy means able to stay alive and survive during my UP and DULL moments. In short, it is making a choice if you want to be happy or not.

14 years in school, 5 years in an employee  and 1 and ½ year as mom, here are some ways on how do I keep myself happy despite of the challenges I encounter :

This REAL sunflower really made me SMILE

• Learn to Smile – smiling has been a part of my routine. Good or Bad, I always smile because I believe that everything happens for a reason.

• Saying Thank You – not only I thank the Lord for everything he gave me but I never fail to thank all the people surrounding me. They have been a part of my life.

• Be Honest – being honest now a day’s seems to very hard for some. But for me, honesty is still the best policy. Not only I am honest to others but I am also TRUE.

• Have Friends & Listen – I am an extrovert type of person and I am proud of it. I easily mingle with others and I love to talk. Not only I love to talk but also I listen to my friends. My friends serve as my outlet to able to express what I am feeling. I listen not for the sake of it but I listen because I care for the people I am with.

• Learn to Respect & Love – if you want to gain respect, might as well respect others. My parents taught me the value of respect since I was a kid and I am proud to say that I was able to live by this value until now. If you know how to respect others, not only you gain respect but also, Love.

The October 15, 2013 Earthquake

It was a very peaceful Tuesday morning, Dirk and I was still in bed and was not too early to get up because it was a Holiday so I don’t have work. At was around 8:30 that our ceiling fan was suddenly shaking; I thought it was just my imagination, and then suddenly a very hard shake disturbed us, an earthquake that lasted for about 10 minutes.  We are living in the 2nd floor of the apartment and I was really grateful that God blessed me because I was in control; I was able to safely carry my son outside our room and safely run outside. That was my 2nd time to experience a strong earthquake, the 1st time was on February 2012, that time I am 8 months pregnant with Dirk and I was in our technical training room in the office because I was have a training. God never failed to be always there for us because we were able to evacuate the building safely.

Back to the October 15, 2013 earthquake, many aftershocks came after the 7.2 magnitude earthquake; around 1,000+ aftershocks were recorded. Until now, aftershocks are still disturbing us. The most affected are our brothers and sisters in Bohol. The fault is found in one of the city in Bohol. Many people were hurt and died. Houses, establishments and churches were destroyed. It melted my heart to see those children suffering from the effect of the earthquake. Despite of this tragedy, it never stopped our fellow Filipino brothers and sisters to extend their help to all the Boholanons. Many relief goods were given to them.

Image from the internet

To all my friends and readers, hope you are one of us in praying with us for our safety. God bless us all.
